Palm Springs/Palm Desert
The
breathtaking scenery of this popular resort area is both unique and
dramatic. Visitors can choose to lose themselves in the dramatic scenery,
or shop until their heart's content. From the stark beauty of the
historic Indian Canyons, to the glamour and prestige of El Paseo and
Palm Canyon Drive shopping, in Palm Desert, there is something for
everyone.
The desert of the
Palm Springs in Coachella Valley is home to several small communities
that hug the San Jacinto, San Gorgonio and Santa Rosa Mountains. Each
is distinctively different in flavor. Palm Springs is the largest
of the towns featuring a faster pace of life. It is home to upscale
hotels and bed & breakfasts, fine restaurants and shopping galore.
If you had to describe Palm Springs in one word it would be shopping.
Heading south on
Hwy 111 is Cathedral City a small residential community known for
its perfect location. From Cathedral City residents can have the best
of all worlds, fabulous shopping, restaurants and activities are just
around every corner in whatever direction they choose to go.
Palm Desert has
a peaceful and restful quality. It is home to The Living Desert and
Shadow Mountain Resort. There is plenty to do there with golf, museums
and more shopping but the pace is slower and there are more family
activities.
Rancho
Mirage, Indian Wells and La Quinta are known worldwide as a golfing
paradise with more than 100 courses, with championship as well as
par threes that challenge golfers of all abilities. Home to the Bob
Hope Desert Classic and the Dinah Shore Nabisco Women's Championship,
to name a few, bring scores of visitors and celebrities to the desert.
It is also home to most of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the
desert.
Indio is the last
town before Hwy 111 reaches Hwy 10 again. It is the largest of the
eight cities that comprise the Palm Springs Desert Resorts area. It
is known as the City of Festivals and hosts something for everyone
throughout the year.
From wild animals
to wild flights to rock climbing and much more - the desert is a year
round adventure. You can check out the Living Desert, which is open
year round with misted and shaded areas. Explore the Joshua Tree National
Park, Indian Canyons, Palm Springs Air Museum, and some of the best
shopping anywhere.
If
you like to shop-till-you-drop, this is the place for you. Fine department
stores, designer boutiques and specialty shops abound to provide the
ultimate paradise. Check out Palm Canyon Drive with the Desert Fashion
Plaza, The Gardens of El Paseo, and Westfield Shoppingtown. Art lovers
will also find heaven with museums and galleries offering extensive
collections of some of the finest artist and works anywhere.
The beautiful near-perfect desert climate offers year-round pleasure.
There are only 15-20 days of rain per year, dry air and low humidity
so residents and guests alike can enjoy sun by day and balmy evenings.
November through April the average temperatures are in the 70s during
the day and 40s at night. The rest of the year it averages 95 days
and 68 evenings, but because of the dry air, it still feels comfortable.
Because of the weather, dress is California Casual, which means shorts
and sandals to designer sportswear by day and almost every fashion
statement by night.
It seems there
are unlimited choices for dining. Visitors can enjoy traditional fare
such as steaks done to perfection or authentic Mexican food in relaxed
settings. Patio dining abounds. Some resemble intimate courtyards
while others offer sidewalk seating. What a delightful experience
to dine under the stars on a clear, warm evening!
Shadow
Mountain Golf & Tennis Resort
Why settle for a hotel when you can retreat to the
desert's most intimate condominium resort? The location is the advantage.
Shadow Mountain is the ideal desert hideaway - located in the heart
of the magnificent Santa Rosa Mountains. A beautifully landscaped
"oasis" is located in the heart of Palm Desert and is the
only desert resort within walking distance of the shops, restaurants
and art galleries of El Paseo.
Shadow Mountain was originally designed for Edgar Bergen
for his family when they visited the desert. He found Palm Springs
'proper' too high style and adult oriented and desired a place where
his family could quietly relax. Shadow Mountain has retained that
relaxed atmosphere to this day, and while visiting the resort, you
and your family will be treated as part of the family and valued as
a new friend.
Guest accommodations at Shadow Mountain are in a word:
flexible. Relax in spacious guestrooms and studios or luxury 1, 2
& 3 bedroom suites and villas. Each home away from home features
patios or balconies, individually controlled air conditioning, color
cable TV, fully equipped kitchenettes or kitchens and daily maid service.
Bonus Packages offer a variety of amenities perfect for couples or
families and include continental breakfasts, admission to the Living
Desert, spa services, golf, tennis lessons, Jeep tours, balloon rides
and much more.
Enjoy complimentary use of all facilities including
16 championship tennis courts, 5 spas, 4 swimming pools, sauna, basketball,
volleyball and an exercise room. For 20 years, Tennis Magazine has
named Shadow Mountain Golf & Tennis Resort as "One of America's
50 Greatest Resorts." There are on-site Desert Tennis Academy
packages available with daily clinics and game-changing lessons.
Five fully appointed meeting and banquet rooms with
separate entrances and a fully staffed banquet kitchen make Shadow
Mountain "the desert's small meeting specialist." Meeting
rooms are designed to fit any gathering. Centrally located, the Executive
Conference Center specializes in groups of 10-150.
"Shadow Mountain beckons guests to come, persuades
them to stay and invites them to return."
