The Jekyll Island Club Hotel, located on a barrier island of unusual natural beauty, is a Victorian treasure. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 1978, it has been designated a Historic Hotel of America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Its turret, bay windows, and verandas distinguish the American Queen Ann architecture of the hotel. Each of the 134 guestrooms and suites, appointed with period reproductions, offer the utmost in convenient comfortable lodging.
The hotel's Presidential Suite is unique, truly one of a kind. Its intimate Victorian parlor opens through double wooden doors to the bedroom, with a view of the river and lawns. The luxurious bathroom features a Jacuzzi and Victorian chaise lounge. A spiral staircase leads to the turret with its antique brass telescope for stargazing.
The Hotel has blended Victorian appointments with modern conveniences including multiple telephones, clock radios, color cable TV/VCRs, irons and ironing boards, hair dryers and phones with voice mail and dataports. Other amenities include a lending library, room service, concierge, massage, and afternoon Victorian Tea.
Nestled among live oak trees festooned with Spanish moss, the area has miles of beaches and maritime forests waiting to be explored. The Club offers a surfside Beach Club, 63 holes of golf, indoor and outdoor tennis, lawn games, a marina, and elegant shopping boutiques.
Dinner in the Grand Dining Room is a memorable experience. The chef prepares Continental and Low Country specialties, as well as dishes with a European flair. Dinner might include Low Country Stuffed Game Hen. Cornish hens are stuffed with smoked sausage; Georgia peach stuffing and Low Country spices, then slow roasted to perfection. Save room for dessert. How about Turtle Marjolaine, a heavenly dish made from layers of caramel, chocolate cake and fudge laced with pecans. Scrumptious!
The Jekyll Island Club Hotel, a "landmark experience."
