Possibly one of the most photographed locations in Phoenix, the original Mediterranean villa-style mansion of the Royal Palms was built in 1929 as the home of world traveler and financier Delos Cooke. Renovated and reopened as an inn in 1948, The Royal Palms became the winter destination of such celebrities as Groucho Marx and Helena Rubenstein. Royal Palms, now under the new ownership of Destination Hotels and Resorts, consists of 116 beautifully appointed casitas and guestrooms set in lush gardens, where many of the original exotic palms, shrubs, flowers and cacti were planted by the Cooke family.
