Fashioned after the inns of New England, The Wine Country Inn was designed and operated as an integral part of one of the truly great wine producing areas of the world. Most of the twenty-four rooms and five separate cottages are oriented to rural views, many overlooking nearby vineyards. Guests can enjoy a simple stroll down a country lane, throwing stones in the Napa River, or curling up with a good book in one of the alcove beds.
Some rooms have patios, gracefully surrounded by lawns and privacy landscaping; others have intimate balconies; most are provided with fireplaces. One of the favorite rooms has an antique four poster bed with a cozy fireplace and balcony with fantastic vineyard views. It provides a cheerful and sunny atmosphere, and to extend the feeling of country tranquility, guests won't find a television in any of the rooms.
The Inn has a beautiful swimming pool and whirlpool that are a social gathering spot for informal picnics and evening cocktails. Visitors to the wine country will enjoy many activities other than wine tasting. Within an easy drive of the Inn, find tennis courts, hot air ballooning, mineral baths and several Robert Louis Stevenson memorial sites.
As a celebration of its 25th Anniversary, the Inn has undergone an extensive renovation of its grounds and gardens. With the help of renowned landscape architect Jonathan Plant, the Inn gardens are truly unique. The Inn has also added five separate and private luxury cottages, three with intimate vineyard views and two with private garden environs. (Completion date, November 2001)
An elegant buffet style breakfast is served to guests each morning and is included in the room rate. For all types of dining pleasure, there are over fifteen excellent restaurants, some world renowned, serving both luncheon and dinner within an easy drive.
