An apple a day!

Critically acclaimed for his "flawless French food" Chef Thomas Henkelmann's contemporary French cuisine is inspired by his classical French training with the renown Auberge d'ill in Alsace and Aubergine in Munich, his German background and time spent in New York City as Executive Chef of Maurice restaurant at Le Parker Meridien.

The reknown Relais Gourmands 4 star restaurant Thomas Henkelmann and Relais & Chateaux hotel Homestead Inn are nestled on a beautiful piece of land jutting into Long Island Sound aptly named Belle Haven. Grand Victorian homes and modern architectural achievements hug its stand like a sun kissed string of pearls.

It is said the difference between real life and the movies is that real life has bad lighting and no score. All of that changes as one enters the grounds of Thomas Henkelmann and Homestead Inn in Greenwich, CT. Purchased in 1997 by Theresa and Thomas Henkelmann as a showcase for Thomas Henkelmann’s incredible cuisine, the existing hotel was a logical extension and a blank canvas for Theresa’s design expertise.

Integrating the architecture that defers to the hotel’s history and individuality, the Henkelmanns’ purposeful and sensitive renovation is a salute to the past while resolutely embracing the new and the now. Art and artifacts from around the globe are seamlessly woven into each room and suite’s décor. European in flavor, the hotel speaks to both the artist and the bon vivant. Cement tiles designed and colored by French artist Denis Colomb add tactile appeal to the heated bathroom floors. Each room differs in style and design and all have sumptuous amenities intended to coddle.

A design thread throughout the hotel is the inspired use of color. Brave and bold, it effortlessly blends the old world with the new. Contemporary artist’s paintings and forged iron and bronze sculpture reminiscent of Garouste and Bonetti characterize the blend. Artisan’s craftworks are called upon to perform their intended function.

The charming gardens, exquisite individually designed and decorated guestrooms, knowledgeable and caring staff and the unparalleled cuisine of Master Chef Thomas Henkelmann creates an experience to treasure for a lifetime.
