For travelers who value a sense of place and time, the 100-year-old Foley Inn on historic Chippewa Square has been lovingly and authentically refurbished to reflect Savannah in its Victorian heyday. The parlor glows with the earth tones of brown, green and gold. Two carved fireplaces, a crystal chandelier and fresh flowers remind guests that they are not in some faceless large hotel.
The amazingly quiet rooms in this downtown location are individually decorated with antique English dressers and armoires, lace-canopied four-poster beds, and complemented by sumptuous wallpaper and drapes in Old Savannah's signature colors of peach, crimson and salmon. Many rooms have fireplaces, marble bathrooms with whirlpool baths, and balconies. Guests may enjoy a complimentary movie in their private VCR. The adjacent Carriage House offers simpler rooms at surprisingly modest prices.
