Built in 1892, the Olde Harbour Inn was once a bluff-side warehouse overlooking the Savannah River. Now a spacious and elegant bed and breakfast inn, it is the only establishment in Savannah where you can sleep in a historic building featuring large suites overlooking the Savannah River.
Nestled between famous River Street and cobblestoned Factors Walk, the Olde Harbour Inn is your doorstep to Savannah's historic riverfront. Moss covered oak trees, crepe myrtles, azaleas, and palm trees surround the building making it a delightful place to enjoy the weather, the River, and the beauty of Savannah.
The stone foundation of Olde Harbour Inn was laid nearly 200 years ago - in 1812. The original structure built atop the sturdy foundation was made of wood, and over the years, it was damaged several times by fire. In 1892, a swift and severely damaging blaze caused nearly complete destruction. The building was then reconstructed with more than 730,000 bricks - making the building flame resistant at last! The building was home to Standard Oil Company until 1907. In 1930, it was occupied by Alexander Brothers Company, a blue jeans and overall factory, who did business in Savannah for many years. The entire building was renovated in 1985, and was opened as the Olde Harbour Inn in 1987.
Each of the beautifully appointed suites at Olde Harbour Inn is uniquely decorated and has its own distinct charm. Some suites have full-sized kitchen, equipped with microwave ovens, coffee makers, conventional ovens and refrigerators. All suites have hair dryers, irons and ironing boards. Some suites have washing machines and dryers for your comfort during extended stays. Guests who stay on the Inn's fourth floor enjoy 23-foot ceilings. |
