Nestled on almost 100 acres of undisturbed hilltop, distinguished by a cathedral ceiling of hand-hewn solid chestnut beams, the Snowbird Mountain Lodge invites guests to ponder or putter in peaceful comfort.

True to Swiss Mountain Chalet style, each guestroom of the Lodge is paneled in a different hardwood and the charming beds, chests, tables, nightstands, and luggage racks are handcrafted in native wood by local craftspeople. Hand-stitched quilts and custom draperies add a charming touch to each room. The telephones and TVs have been eliminated so your retreat will be complete. Tile floor bathrooms offer porcelain tubs for a relaxing soak, matching drapes and shower curtains, marble countertops, and handmade vanities. Most bathrooms have large windows through which magnificent forest views are enjoyed.

When you are well rested from a night of relaxing slumber, you can enjoy an endless array of outdoor recreational activities, all nearby but off the beaten path. Mountain biking, hiking, nature and wildflower walks, white water rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, and fly fishing can be arranged by the Lodge staff. After an adventurous afternoon, guests are welcomed back to the Lodge with homemade cookies and hot beverages.

The spacious wild cherry-paneled dining room features maple tables custom crafted locally and cheerfully covered with linen, a large wood-burning fireplace, and large windows. Included in your stay are hearty and simply delicious meals, with each dish characterized by seasonal ingredients that come fresh from streams and soil nearby. Try the NC Mountain Trout sautéed with herb breadcrumbs and lemon beurre blanc, freshly picked tiny green beans, and roasted potatoes with fresh thyme. Making selections from the menu, which changes daily, may be the most difficult part of your stay.

During their stay at Snowbird Mountain Lodge, guests will relax, rejuvenate, and refresh, surrounded by nature in all its abundance and grandeur.
