Built in Mediterranean Revival style in 1926 and completely refurbished last year, the Chesterfield embodies the elegance of an earlier time. Inside is an English country manor-style lobby and library furnished with antique Persian rugs, English and French antique furniture and oversized sofas and chairs. There is also a landscaped courtyard and a cigar room on the premises.
Rooms feature antiques, traditional fabrics and hand-buffed walls and trim. Suites are provided with fresh flowers, refrigerators and 2 phones. All rooms have cable TV; plush robes, and hair dryers; and fine soaps and sachets await guests in the marble bathrooms. Guests are served sherry on arrival, and English tea with scones, preserves and clotted cream is served every afternoon. A round-the-clock concierge is available for every need.
The ambiance of the hotel's Leopard Lounge and Supper Club can best be described as "exotic playfulness." Hand-painted mural ceilings and leopard-printed walls and carpet envelop the guest from behind Asian palm fronds. Seating is in leather booths or red lacquered chairs. Guests can watch the meal being prepared in the central "theater kitchen."
This intimate hotel is within strolling distance of the shores of the Atlantic or the famous shops of Worth Avenue. The financial center of West Palm Beach is a short cab ride away. |
