This grand 3-story mansion was built in 1889 and was the first Napa residence listed on the National Historic Registry. Surrounded by an extensive covered veranda and flanked by large white columns, the building rests amid a private-enclosed acre of beautiful trees, expansive lawns and lush gardens. As visitors pass through the massive, beveled-glass doors, they step back in time to a less hurried way of life. The first floor boasts four large parlors, each with a fireplace and magnificently carved redwood moldings and a solarium with an original mosaic floor of over 60,000 marble tiles.
The mansion was refurbished in 2003 and is furnished with fine European antiques, oriental rugs, brass and crystal chandeliers, and a grand piano in the music room. All 10 guestrooms are individually and uniquely decorated. The Edward Churchill room is the original owner's master bedroom and features a magnificent antique French matching 7-piece bedroom set of carved walnut and marble and ample comfortable seating for relaxing. It also features original gold-leaf bathroom and fireplace tiles, a giant bathtub mounted on a mahogany pedestal, a two-person tiled shower, and the original pedestal sink.
A complimentary, bountiful breakfast including homemade muffins, nut breads, croissants, a generous fruit platter, and daily egg entrees, is served each morning, either in the solarium overlooking the garden or outside on the veranda. Each afternoon there is freshly baked cookies, coffee and tea are available for snacking and each evening there is a two-hour Napa Valley varietal wine-and-cheese reception.
Churchill Manor is an ideal place for a romantic wedding or reception for any festive occasion. The inn hosts weddings each year with in-house catering, equipment and coordination. Hot-air ballooning, COPIA, the Napa Valley Wine Train, mud baths in nearby spas, gourmet restaurants, shopping, tennis, and golf are among the many recreational activities available. Croquet and tandem bicycles are provided complimentary to guests to enhance the Victorian charm of a stay at Churchill Manor.
