Nestled away in an expansive and private setting of native landscape just 40 miles north of San Diego, Cal-A-Vie combines the theories of a luxurious European Spa with the American concepts of fitness and nutrition. Your day begins with an invigorating hike or walk, followed by a nourishing breakfast. You are given a schedule of the day’s events beginning with fitness classes that include cardio, aerobic, stretch and weight training; sequentially arrange for optimal results. Following a delicious and healthy lunch, you will indulge in some of the finest European Spa and beauty treatments, interspersed with peaceful pursuits such as yoga and stretch. Evenings offer a fabulous meal that is mysteriously low in calories. Afterwards, you can choose to relax in one of our social lounges or have quiet night in the comfort and privacy of your Mediterranean-style villa.
Our 24 guest cottages has been individually decorated to recall the serene luxury of a European country villa: terra cotta roofs, wide wooden plank doors, private terraces with breathtaking views and window boxes full of flowers, and inside, hand-carved furniture covered in floral chintz.
Cal-a-Vie's fitness program, which begins with a personal fitness assessment, is designed to achieve personal goals in stress reduction, relaxation, weight control and toning. Exercise includes hiking on Cal-a-Vie's 200 acres of private trails, aerobic conditioning, pilates, NIA, Cardio Kick Boxing, water sports, and personalized workouts on state-of-the-art equipment. Private Tennis lessons are available on sight and golf is available at an adjacent private country club. The day ends with peaceful pursuits such as Yoga, Tai Chi, meditation or a walk in our Labyrinth.
Cal-a-Vie's gourmet spa cuisine is highlighted by herbs and vegetables from the Cal-a-Vie gardens. A weekly cooking class in Cal-a-Vie's kitchen is a fun way for guests to learn the techniques used here.
Cal-a-Vie's beauty therapy program for men and women employs European techniques of thalasso therapy, hydrotherapy and aromatherapy to help restore inner balance and serenity. A week where the day begins with fitness and ends massage, meditation, tai chi or yoga, leaves guests feeling relaxed, content and deliciously pampered.
