Built in 1924 and embraced by Mount San Jacinto, the striking architecture of this Mediterranean Villa set against the hillside creates a dramatic effect. Mahogany beams, frescoed ceilings and the mountain waterfall that spills into a pool just outside the stone-floored dining room delights visitors and creates a memorable atmosphere.
The Willows has been meticulously restored to its former grandeur, refinement and elegance. Country Inn Magazine named it "One of the 10 best inns in the country." All eight rooms are beautifully appointed with antique furniture, sumptuous linens, luxurious baths and modern amenities. Several rooms have a working fireplace, hardwood floors, private balcony, garden patio and/or mountain and garden vistas. Rooms are decorated individually so that each room has its own unique character. The Loft Room, for example, is charmingly complemented by vaulted ceiling, Italian burled walnut antique furnishings, a two-person claw foot tub in the bathroom, as well as a fireplace which is enhanced by cascading water outside the windows. These romantic rooms conjure up images of times past and times to be had.
Each night's stay at The Willows is followed by an extensive gourmet breakfast, which will tempt even the most discerning palate. Specialty dishes include cilantro-rolled omelets served with fresh avocado and salsa, pumpkin waffles topped with apple-cider syrup, caramelized poached pears, sides of chicken apple sausage and praline bacon, an assortment of pastries, and more. The Willows also serves afternoon hors d'oeuvres and wine to celebrate yet another leisurely day.
For the curious guest, The Willows boasts a magical hillside garden which leads to secluded lookouts where one may contemplate the "sun-bleached land, the pale mysterious desert" or the star splashed night sky above the still mountains.
The Willows beckons visitors to its superb setting and tranquil atmosphere. |
