The Inn at Montchanin Village, once a part of Winterthur Museum Estate, exists in a wonderful little world of its own. A world in which time has seemingly stood still. Into this rural vignette are cleverly woven 28 guest rooms and suites appointed with period and reproduction furniture, marble baths and every modern convenience and amenities for the sophisticated traveler.
The unique walkways flow through the historic walled gardens, creating a sense of unity throughout the entire hamlet. The seasonal colors complemented by the use of native plantings, capture the very essence of the Brandywine Valley and its surrounding world-class gardens.
Of the eleven carefully restored buildings dated from 1799 - 1910, nine were once houses for the workers of the Dupont black powder mills. The original blacksmith's shop is now Krazy Kat's Restaurant. The Dilwyne Barn houses Guest Services and a lounge with an honor bar.
A member of Historic Hotels of America, the Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Krazy Kats's Restaurant is described as "whimsical dining room with an eclectic menu and an award-winning wine list". Be sure to make a dinner reservation when booking your room. |
