Recognized by Forbes Magazine:
"The 10 Best Inns of New England".
Beside the old road that has witnessed the courage of Minute Men, marching to first challenge the King's troops and fire "The shot heard round the world," Hawthorne Inn was raised (c.1870) on fertile earth that was once owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Louisa May Alcott and family, Nathaniel Hawthorne and surveyed by the famed naturalist, Henry David Thoreau.
Under the shade of ancient trees, you will find the Hawthorne Inn to be an intimate refuge that is filled with much to share: poetry and literature to entertain and to enlighten you, artworks and archaic artifacts that are a wonder to behold, weavings and coverlets to snuggle on a crisp autumn eve and burnished antique furnishings that speak of home and security.
The seven vibrant guestrooms offer gracious appointments that are inspired by a refreshing sense of tradition melded with an artist's whimsy and the unexpected. Highlighting the rooms are artworks and antique furnishings with a backdrop of wonderful colors that rests the soul and warms the heart. Each guest accommodation possess en-suite bath replete with abundant amenities. Displayed throughout the Inn are fascinating collections of Japanese Ukiyo-e prints, Pre-Colombian artifacts, modern paintings and sculptures and a varied library that will satisfy all sensibilities. Guest enjoy an extensive continental breakfast served each morning on hand-painted Dedham pottery, around a convivial common table.
You may choose to pass your time basking near the whispering fire with a book in hand, be led by the resident cat to a seat in the bountiful floral gardens for a spot of tea or enjoy the day ambling pathways and exploring the many treasures of Concord's layered history. The Hawthorne Inn invites you to listen to the whispers of Concord's Muse and to take a moment to be refreshed in body, mind and spirit. |
