Nestled in the heart of the spectacular Green Mountains of Vermont, The Equinox is located in the center of Manchester Village. Originally opened in 1769, and with 7 different past names, it is a noted national landmark with 230 years of intriguing history, 6 different architectural styles, and 17 separate buildings. Having recently undergone a $14 million renovation, The Equinox offers Old World hospitality in a style and setting that can be described as "Country Grand." New England-style guestrooms are air-conditioned with private bath and color TV with cable and remote control. Presidential suites, which are named after presidents who visited The Equinox, are furnished with king-size poster beds and antiques.
The Colonnade, with its magnificently restored vaulted ceiling and expansive bay window, features contemporary American and European cuisine in the classic tradition. The Marsh Tavern welcomes guests with fine spirits and regional cuisine in a casual ambiance. The Dormy Grill on the deck of the Gleneagles Golf Clubhouse serves daily lunch and a fabulous weekend Lobsterfest dinner during summer and fall.
Facilities include an 18-hole Rees Jones golf course, fitness spa with an indoor and outdoor pool, steam room, sauna, cardiovascular equipment, Nautilus, pro shop, mountain bikes, year round tennis, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and ice skating. The Land Rover Driving School at The Equinox is the first permanent, manufacturer-supported 4x4 driving school in the U.S.
The British School of Falconry at The Equinox is the first falconry school of its kind in America. Each program is hands-on lessons teaching the student to handle and fly native birds of prey. There are introductory lessons, hawk walks, hawking days, and half- or full-day Country Pursuits programs which include falconry, fly fishing and clay pigeon shooting.
The resort also features miles of hiking, biking and cross country skiing trails and private fishing on a 14-acre pond. Local shopping includes over 130 designer outlets and myriad antique stores. |
