In the historic Waterfront Place district midway between Pike Street Market and Pioneer Square, this 1901 hotel listed on the National Register of Historic Places is a centerpiece of Seattle's fascinating downtown restoration. The outer shell has been preserved, while the interior has been redone in sophisticated European style.
Each guest is treated to special personalized services upon arrival, use of the hotel's steam room (guaranteeing a restful night's sleep), nightly turndown service, complimentary shoeshine and choice of morning newspapers. In addition, there is an evening wine reception where guests can paint postcards, as well as morning coffee service in the lobby featuring Torrefazione coffee.
Each of the 109 guest rooms, almost half of them suites, is beautifully decorated with antique tables, overstuffed chairs, brass reading lamps and cable TV concealed in an armoire. Some of the dramatic baths feature black tile, marble counters, luxurious linens and robes, telephones and abundant Aveda toiletries. Several suites have woodburning fireplaces and large whirlpool baths.
The Library Bistro restaurant features contemporary American cuisine in a cozy, neighborhood setting. The Bookstore Bar,one of Seattle's best gathering spots for locals and tourists alike, is well-known as a gtreat little cigar bar.
For a small fee, guests can enjoy privileges to the Seattle Club and Pure Fitness athletic centers. A scenic jogging route along the Seattle waterfront starts at The Alexis' front door. |
