Built in 1830, Soniat House is made up of conjoined townhouses including two courtyards. Shiny greenleaf magnolia leaves, azaleas, lemon trees and flowers bursting with all colors make our courtyards the perfect place to introduce you to the magic of Soniat House. Our rooms and suites are all furnished with late 18th and early 19th century antiques, textiles and fabrics. No rooms are alike. Some rooms feature views of the courtyards or city views. Located in the residential portion of the French Quarter, the sounds most frequently heard are those of the clip-clop of hooves pulling carriages, and the wonderful calliope from the river steamboats. The resident hotel owners, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney smith, also have Soniat antiques, located within the hotel buildings.
The perfect start to a day at Soniat House is breakfast outside or in your room or suite. Our breakfast of fresh-squeezed orange juice, thick Louisiana coffee, cafe au lait, or tea, made to order buttermilk biscuits, homemade strawberry preserves is the only way to begin your day. Nearby our New Orleans famous galleries and shops and restaurants. And of course the ending of your day is to return for a drink in the courtyard, now entirely lit by candles.
