Located within Crescent Beach State Park, one of Maine's finest sand beaches, is the Inn by the Sea. The award-winning architecture of the Inn is reminiscent of the Cottage Shingled design of the 1890s. Surrounded by lush green lawns and ever- blooming perennials, the main house offers 25 one-bedroom suites and the adjacent cottages offer 18 two-bedroom suites--each with full kitchen, living/dining areas and patio or porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Each suite is has three telephone, two televisions, a VCR, complimentary high speed internet access, voice mail.
Guest rooms in the main house are furnished with Chippendale cherry, while the cottages are furnished with simple white pine pieces; all are accented with original art. A unique collection of hand colored engravings by John J. Audubon are on display throughout the dining room and lobby area.
Indulge your senses and enjoy a gourmet dining experience in the romantic and intimate atmosphere of the Audubon Room. The menu offers new American regional cuisine with contemporary French overtones. There is always a variety of menu selections, offering only the freshest and finest of Maine's local gardens, fields and orchards. Native hand-picked seafood specialties provide the perfect compliment to the most impressive wine selections. Breakfast and dinner are served daily. During the summer, lunch and poolside service are available. The outdoor terrace is also open during the warmer months for evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
A private boardwalk, leading through a beautiful natural estuary to the white sandy shore of Crescent Beach, is one of the highlights of the Inn. Amenities such as tennis, outdoor pool and shuffleboard are also offered. Sailing and excursion tours are available at the nearby Portland waterfront, as is an eclectic array of shops and restaurants in the Old Port district. |
