Twin Farms' storied romantic past began when the Nobel Prize-winning novelist Henry Sinclair Lewis traversed Vermont in 1928 in search of the perfect sanctuary for his fiancee, journalist Dorothy Thompson. Discovering Twin Farms, the two, once again, fell in love. Suites of the Main House envelop guests in themes from French country to American folk. Cottages, like lovers, surprise and delight, hiding a luxe Moroccan interior within a Vermont clapboard house or an authentic log cabin behind a bevy of birches. Of course, a 3,000 square foot Chalet for two is always undeniably romantic. Couples will also choose whether to play or be pampered together as well. Those seeking to melt away in relaxation may treat themselves to an in-room couple's massage, to a melange of invigorating treatments in the Out of the Woods spa or time together in the 104 degree Japanese Furo.
Twin Farms is a unique country estate get-away for all seasons situated on over three hundred acres of wildflower meadows, hardwood forests, ancient gardens and private ponds in Barnard, Vermont, just ten miles north of picturesque Woodstock. The original 1795-era farmhouse and lodge have been converted into gracious living and dining rooms, plus six elegant guest suites. Ten freestanding guest cottages, each with their own interior design style, are dotted about the property, The Farmhouse at Copper Hill provides an additional four suites.
Since opening in 1993 Twin Farms has upheld a tradition of graceful hospitality and quiet beauty. For those tired of ostentation, Twin Farms offers simplicity and understated elegance. Guests enjoy the use of a handsome pub, full fitness center, spa treatment facility, lakeside cabana and a Japanese-style Furo. Four seasons of on-site recreation and equipment, ground transfer from area airports, outstanding cuisine and fine wines are included in our base rates.
