This centrally located hotel is an impressive blend of Japanese hospitality and tradition, featuring beautifully appointed rooms and superb service. The hotel anchors the east end of a five-acre modern complex, The Japan Center, which houses scores of shops featuring merchandise from Japan and the Orient, restaurants, sushi bars, art galleries, a bookstore, and movie theaters. The Center is also the cultural focal point for San Francisco's Japanese community.
The Radisson Miyako's lobby overlooks a dramatic garden with a seven-foot waterfall. The hotel's new restaurant, DOT, soon to open in May, 2000, will feature exciting new ventures in California cuisine.
Nearly all rooms are furnished in a comfortable western style with striking accents such as hand-painted and lacquered fusuma screens from the past, and delicate rice paper shoji screens that slide away to reveal San Francisco views. Two suites are classic Japanese with raised sleeping platforms, tatami mats, down futons, and rock and bamboo gardens. There are also East/West rooms that feature both Japanese and American-style sleeping accommodations. Thirteen luxury suites and two rooms have their own redwood saunas. One of the hotel's most popular amenities is the traditional sunken-tub (furo), available in most rooms, which gives guests the opportunity to indulge in the relaxing rite of bathing Japanese-style.
On the Club Floor, amenities include elegant marble bathrooms with oversize whirlpool tubs, and private access to the floor. All rooms include dual-line dataports, hair dryers, irons/ironing boards, minibars, and superb views of San Francisco.
