Built in the 1880's by a wealthy San Franciscan, and fully restored a century later, Madrona Manor achieved National Historic Registry status in 1987. In 2007 Travel + Leisure recognized Madrona Manor as one of the top 10 hotels in the Continental US and Canada, and again in 2008 as one of the top 100 Worldwide.
The original Victorian Mansion offers eight romantic guest rooms, all with fireplaces. Eight elegant rooms are located in the Carriage House. The two luxurious School House Suites each have a jacuzzi tub for two and the remaining five suites, on this eight acre romantic hideaway all feature fireplaces and separate sitting rooms. All the accommodations are uniquely furnished with Victorian antiques. All have private baths. No televisions interrupt the secluded peace of this retreat. The pleasures are those of earlier times: fresh flowers from the garden, freshly baked cookies in every room, and a vast kitchen garden which supplies the restaurant with fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables throughout the year.
Aah, how those Victorians did enjoy meals! Breakfast at the Manor is a bountiful style buffet. The Michelin One Starred restaurant under Chef Jesse Mallgren, formerly of Stars in San Francisco, Syzygy of Aspen, has had the highest overall restaurant ratings in the Zagat Survey for in Sonoma County. Dinner offers a choice of a la carte, Chef tasting menu of 7 courses, or the option to build your own 3, 4 or 5 course menu. Well orchestrated wine pairings are available with each course. Wine Spectator Magazine calls the Madrona Manor both the Grande Dame of Sonoma restaurants and of Victorian Inns.
Because the Manor is not open for lunch, its four charming Victorian dining rooms and outside Palm Terrace can cater business meetings throughout the day as well as business dinners at night. The Manor offers some audio-visual equipment at no cost, and can arrange for other equipment as needed for groups.
