In the tradition of the Old West, the Rochester Hotel will transport guests back to the days of gunslingers and railroad bandits amid Durango's scenic downtown setting. Built in 1892 and restored in 1994, the Rochester is a beautiful two-story brick Victorian hotel. The many antiques displayed throughout the hotel and its historical surroundings complement the Western motif.
During their stay at the Rochester, guests will delight in picturesque views of the mountains, courtyard, and downtown Durango. Each of the luxury guest rooms is uniquely decorated in a style true to the Old West and inspired by the many movies filmed in the Four Corners area. Rooms have high ceilings and a private bathroom. The Rochester prides itself on the King Suite, where guests will enjoy a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a large jetted bathtub, living room, desk, cable TV and lovely antiques.
Start your daily adventures with a delicious breakfast such as chive potato cakes, spinach-and-cheese-stuffed croissants, and scrumptious baked goods which can be enjoyed in the landscaped courtyard, in the old-fashioned train car, or on the patio.
Activities abound at the Rochester, where guests are within walking distance of the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and many fine restaurants and shops. Nearby parks also offer hiking and biking trails and the Animas river offers exciting river rafting for all ages. In the courtyard or on the patio of the hotel guests will find a delightful spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area after a day in town.
At the Rochester Hotel, guests will leave behind their everyday lives and step into the historical world of the Old West where every moment is filled with adventure. |
