Built in 1904, this Colonial-style mansion is just a pleasant three-minute walk to downtown shopping, many fine restaurants and the waterfront. Bar Harbor's Historic Corridor is near other lodging, yet residential in nature, with lots of trees and gardens to enjoy. Both the Inn and the Carriage House are splendid examples of turn-of-the-century architecture, unique in features and design.
All rooms have private bath, antiques, TV and telephone. Others have four-poster beds, porches, working fireplaces, sauna and steambath plus whirlpool tubs. A typical room at the Ledgelawn has a fireplace, a couch, sitting area, wall-to-wall carpets, brass bed, flowered wallpaper, plants, reproduction furniture and oil paintings. Some rooms were renovated in 1998.
A complimentary, full European, buffet breakfast is served every morning on the Veranda and in the fireplace lounge area. Tea is served in the afternoon.
