The lobby's patterned carpeting, potted palms, marble columns, and fringed velvet sofas exude an aura of earlier days. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with high ceilings, king-size beds, traditional stuffed chairs, writing desks, and TVs in armoires. Bathrooms are all white, with antique fixtures. Every bathroom has a window. Although the entire 11-story hotel was refurbished in 1987, it still has the proportions and detail of the elegant old hotel it really is. It also has old-fashioned hospitality, beginning with breakfast and a complimentary newspaper brought to the room if one so desires, and ending with turndown service and chocolates on the pillow at night.
The hotel restaurant, Ewald's at the Stoneleigh, is a Dallas institution. Noted for white linen, bone china, and continental evening fare, it also serves breakfast, lunch, and Sunday Brunch. The Lion's Den Lounge, with its English pub atmosphere, serves lunch and libations through the evening. On weekdays, one can meet and greet friends or business associates at The Lobby Bar after 4:30 p.m.
The Stoneleigh's heated outdoor swimming pool and lighted tennis courts provide opportunities for relaxation and recreation.
The Boardroom, the Garden Terrace Room (with an adjoining outdoor patio for receptions), the Renaissance Ballroom, and the elegant 11th-floor Penthouse make The Stoneleigh an attractive location for business or social functions for groups of 4 to 400. There is a complimentary shuttle service taking guests the six miles to Love Field, or to the Central Business District and the Dallas Market Center, which are only minutes away. The hotel is about one-half mile from the freeway, and 18 miles from Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. |
