Welcome to the Wilburton Inn, Manchester Vermont's twenty acre grand Victorian estate specializing in holiday vacations, romantic getaways, sport vacations, executive retreats and elegant country weddings.
Located high on the crest of a hill overlooking the Battenkill Valley and Vermont's Green Mountains, the Wilburton Inn was once the largest private estate in Manchester Village. Everything about it is superlative: fabulous location, ambiance and architecture. Since 1902, when the mansion was completed, there have been five owners of the property, each holding fast to a standard of excellence.
Driving past stone-walled estates on River Road, you sense that you are returning to an era of gracious living, undisturbed by the pressures of contemporary life. The day at the Wilburton begins with a full country breakfast served in the terrace dining room, including, of course, blueberry pancakes and genuine Vermont maple syrup. From the wide windows, admire breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and the valley.
After breakfast, take a pleasant stroll through the extensive grounds and the sculpture gardens. During the day, explore the shopping, recreational and cultural activities in town just one mile away. Hike the Green Mountains, or try sports at nearby ski, spa and golf centers. Enjoy a game of tennis at the Inn or relax by the pool. Read a newspaper or a book from the deck off your room.
Afternoon tea is served on the terrace or in the living room. Have a cocktail or glass of wine by the living room fireplace before dinner. Dining at the Wilburton is a wonderful experience. The handsome dining room has a massive fireplace. The menus feature fresh premium ingredients with herbs and salads cut from the garden. The pastry chef creates delicious desserts and artisan breads in the Wilburton kitchen. The wine captain will help select the perfect wine to pair with your dinner.
The Wilburton Inn has six buildings: the mansion, the villas, the Ortlieb House (two bedroom house with full living room and kitchen, ideal for families desiring privacy; we can even provide a private chef and butler) and the Curry House, which is ideal for family reunions. Most guest rooms feature two queen beds or a king poster bed. Suites sleep an extra person in the living room. All rooms have a telephone, satellite television, air conditioning, a private bathroom and a refrigerator. Master bedrooms have special amenities such as a fireplace, a whirlpool bath, a private deck and majestic views. In total we accommodate 75 lodging guests and 160 dining guests.
