The Washington House Inn was Cedarburg's first inn, built in 1846 on this site. In 1886, the present Victorian cream-city brick building replaced the original structure. From 1886 until the 1920's The Washington House Inn existed as a hotel at which time it was converted into offices and apartments. In 1983 the ownership of the inn changed hands and work began to restore and transform the building back to its original use as an inn. The Washington House Inn is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The romance of country Victorian style is captivating as one enters the Washington House Inn, the ultimate in bed and breakfast accommodations. A lovely collection of antique Victorian furniture and a marble-trimmed fireplace offer a warm reception. Tastefully appointed, the comfortable, elegant guest rooms feature antiques, cozy down quilts, whirlpool and steam baths and fireplaces.
A delicious expanded continental breakfast buffet is served each morning in welcoming Gathering Room. Homemade muffins, cakes and breads are baked in the Inn's kitchen using recipes from an authentic turn-of-the-century Cedarburg cookbook. Fresh fruit, cereal, freshly squeezed juices, and a fine selection of tea and coffee are also offered. Each evening guests may join one another for a complimentary social hour featuring award winning Cedar Creek wines and local cheeses. There are several excellent local Cedarburg restaurants and the Innkeeper will be happy to make reservations for you.
