Step back in time to enjoy 18th century charm with 20th century amenities at The Francis Malbone House Inn. The elegant inn is located on Newport's Historic Harborfront on Thames Street. From the outside you can hardly imagine what pleasures are to come, but once inside you are welcomed with four guest parlors with luxurious furniture, a grand foyer, and a secret garden in the center of the inn.
The beautiful bedrooms are individually decorated with antiques and period reproduction Queen Anne furniture. Walls are painted authentic colonial colors and decorated with antique paintings and prints. Rooms feature king and queen size beds and wing back chairs. All of the suites and eight courtyard rooms offer Jacuzzi tubs and all have plush cotton robes and large bath towels, complimentary toiletries and hair dryers.
The Counting House Suite is the most popular room. The king size canopy bed, large sitting room, dining area with chandelier, and bath with double Jacuzzi make this room perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries and romantic getaways. To further enhance the suite and to heighten the romance, there is also a gas fireplace, Bose stereo and private entrance from the courtyard and from Thames Street.
The sunny fireplaced dining room complements the colonial mansion in spectacular fashion. A gourmet breakfast is served each morning as guests gaze through the glassed enclosed colonnade that looks out into the manicured courtyard. One of the parlors, The Blue Room offers menus for guests to preview from all of Newport's top restaurants and the innkeepers are happy to recommend their favorites and make reservations for dinner.
The innkeepers have over 25 years of combined experience. They know when a guest needs attention or desires anonymity. The results are a relaxful stay and healthy way to see the wonderful sites of the city-by-the-sea. |
