Tucked discreetly into St. James's Place, the Stafford Hotel could easily be mistaken for one of London's stately residences - which, in fact, it once was. The Stafford is quietly lavish, warm and welcoming, with period furnishings and antiques, adorning both bedrooms and public areas. Here is a haven of calm, which seems a world away from the bustle of Piccadilly.
All of the Stafford's guestrooms and suites are individually decorated, making use of striking fabrics and wallpapers. In addition to the suites and rooms in the main house, the Stafford offers guests the opportunity of staying in one of London's oldest rooms. The Carriage House is made up of 12 luxuriously appointed bedrooms created out of the original 18th century stables in a cobbled mews. Filled with English furniture and period pieces, the Carriage House rooms have all the modern amenities including CD players, fax lines, US style plugs, in-room safes and refrigerators.
Guests of the Stafford have free unlimited access to one of the most exclusive health clubs in London - Champneys Piccadilly. Facilities include a gym, swimming pool and whirlpool spa, sauna and steam rooms with plunge pools, two glass-backed squash courts, a members lounge, two dance studios, a spa area with eight treatment rooms, and wet and dry changing rooms.
The Stafford lies in St James's Place, close to St James's Palace and Green Park. Many of the famous landmarks are just a minute away - Piccadilly Circus, National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace - to name but a few. Famous designer shops and popular favorites such as Fortnum & Mason - are all within walking distance. For the theater and dining out, just ask the Concierge who'll be happy to make all the arrangements.
Executive Chef Chris Oakes has been awarded numerous awards including the Michelin stars and Red Rosettes among others. The restaurant is softly lit with ornate pillars and a hand-painted circular centerpiece on the ceiling. Lunch and dinner are available daily, with both prix fixe and a la carte menus. The American bar is open daily and also serves light snacks and suppers. Private dining is also available.
The Stafford has an air of timelessness - the feel of a country house with a central London location. |
