Linthwaite House Hotel & Restaurant enjoys one of the most spectacular and romantic hilltop settings in the Lake District, overlooking Lake Windermere. Surrounded by 14 acres of landscaped garden it is the perfect setting for a relaxing break.
The service is informal and welcoming with the emphasis on dressing down rather than dressing up but nothing is too much trouble. Your car is parked upon arrival, luxurious bathrobes and Molton Brown amenities are standard in all guestrooms as well as the Linthwaite teddy bear on your bed and you even get the weather forecast with your morning newspaper.
There are endless possibilities for energetic pursuits or quiet moments to indulge the senses. From leisurely croquet to mountain biking in the fells, take the time to relax, unwind and appreciate the magic of the lakes. Work up an appetite walking the fells and reward yourself with a pre-dinner cocktail in the cozy bar and dinner in the intimate Mirror Room.
The Mirror Room restaurant at the Linthwaite House Hotel is far more than a mere hotel dining room. A more fitting description would be a destination restaurant, where award-winning head chef, Andy Nicholson creates meals of the highest quality served in an unpretentious, informal environment. Tempting starters include steamed fillet of turbot crowned with pine nuts serviced with chilli and tomato chutney. For main course, a choice of dishes may include breast of guinea fowl served with shallots, morilles and cream, or seared fillet of seabass brushed with pesto and layered with herb potato cakes and charred plum tomatoes. Make sure to save room for dessert as the traditional creme brulee flavoured with fresh vanilla and white chocolate is a firm favourite.
William Wordsworth wrote of "days which are worth months, even years". At Linthwaite House, you will experience precisely what he meant. |
