Ballinkeele House, bordering on the village of Ballymurn, is an ideal location, where the traveler can slow down, relax, recharge his whole being and also see a beautiful lesser-known part of Ireland. Ballinkeele is an elegant and gracious Country Home. They are not a Hotel or a Country Inn but rather a family home, offering guests the opportunity to stay and enjoy the hospitality of a gentler age.
The floating staircase winds its way up to the bedroom floor, where the Master Bedroom with its original four poster bed and furniture enjoys fabulous views over the surrounding countryside. Each of the other bedrooms feature original furniture, large comfortable beds and lovely views. The Balcony Bedroom, as its name implies, looks out onto the portico roof. This room is one of the ensuite bathrooms to have a bath tub, with the others having ensuite showers. The Blue Room has both bath tub and shower ensuite. All showers have American-type pressure for good quality showers.
Ballinkeele is ideally situated for visiting a wide range of historic and archaeological sites and gardens. Kilkenny, Waterford, the Wicklow Mountains and Dublin are all within easy reach. There are six golf courses within one hour's drive, and riding stables just 30 minutes away. One of John and Margaret's large breakfasts will fortify guests for a day of exploration, which might include fishing, golf, riding or walking. Should visitors prefer to stay at Ballinkeele House, they might enjoy a game of croquet, cards, or chess.
It is the aim of Chef Margaret Maher, who is a member of the European Community of Cooks, to promote the use of natural ingredients in her cooking. Only locally produced meat and fish are used, accompanied by fresh fruit and vegetables grown in their own garden whenever possible. Ballinkeele will cater to vegetarians, but be sure to inform them before arriving.
Guests can be assured that when staying at Ballinkeele, they will sleep well, eat well, and leave with an overall feeling of well being.
