The Country House Hotel is an old farmhouse built in 1920 over a medieval building of which remains a guard tower, now part of the hotel. The Country House lies on a slope, about 500 meters from Assisi, along the ancient road that linked the Porziuncola with the Porta del Sementone.
A green pine-wood and some terraces and gardens surround the Country House offering a chance to enjoy the amazing landscape of Assisi with its countryside and vineyards, as well as the serenity of the countryside, in an intimate and pleasant atmosphere. Guests can also enjoy the solarium outside, as well as two drawing rooms inside.
Breakfast is usually served downstairs in the drawing room.
All bedrooms, which have just been recently remodeled, are cool and large and have private bathrooms, central heating and antique furnishings. Downstairs there is an antique furniture shop where guests can find 18th and 19th century Umbrian furniture (chests, tables, armchairs, mirrors and beds). These treasures have been patiently acquired by the hotel owner Silvana Ciammarughi.
Assisi, full of sunlight, stands tall on Monte Subasio overlooking the green plains of Umbria, near the ruins of medieval fortress, reminding us that its Franciscan Age flourished out of a history of war and blood. At the end of the 12th century Saint Francis and Saint Chiara were born here and since then Assisi has become one of the most majestic
destinations of Christian pilgrimage. Today it is an international tourist town of great cultural and rural interest. At 424m above sea level, with its dry and sunny climate and its extraordinary peaceful surroundings, it is the ideal place for rest and relaxation. |
