The Fitzwilliam, a contemporary luxury hotel designed by Conran Design Partnership opened in the summer of 1998 on St. Stephen's Green, heralding a new departure for the hotel industry in Ireland. Ignoring the traditonal hotel trappings of chintz and four poster beds in favor or modernist architecture, the designs have given rise to a new concept called "Baronial Modern" which is a unique marriage of the spirit of the past meeting the present.
