Ideally located in the heart of the regional natural park of Luberon, between Gordes and Bonnieux, La Bastide de Marie is one of the most splendid proprieties in the region. La Bastide de Marie embodies the discreet harmony of Impressionist lighting. Each of the 8 rooms and 6 suites are decorated with Provencal furniture discovered in the region's many antique shops. The warmth of the district's colors and shades continues to inspire artists, just as they did Picasso and Nicolas de Staël. Sunflower yellow, aster mauve, and wild anise create an atmosphere of inspiration that intensifies with each passing moment. Several of the rooms boast canopy beds and all have unique views of the magnificent countryside.
In addition, Grenache is a gorgeous renovated XVIIIth century Bastide with all the charm of a provencal farm, set in the Luberon natural Park amongst the most beautiful secnic countryside of southern France. This beautiful domain is staning in 15 hectares of vineyards, overlooking lavender fields and cherry orchards. This splendid property shows a very elegant interior; on the ground floor are a dining room, a small lounge with a library equipped with DVD player, canal satellite, stereo; another living room with a fireplace and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs there are five bedrooms, four bathrooms and one shower room. Most of them are equipped with TV, CD player and stereo.
There is plenty of recreation in the area including golf, cycling, hiking and ballooning. Notre-Dame-des-Grâces chapel and the ancient abbey of St. Hilaire are historical landmarks, and there are several fascinating bories, ancient dry-stone huts, along the small roads and fields surrounding the village.
Each dish at the hotel's restaurant is a journey in taste. Fresh ingredients from various local markets are rich in the colors and fragrances of the region. Don't miss the Ripe Tomatoes with Fresh Basil and Goat Cheese or the Cold Summer Vegetable Soup with Courgettes and Grilled Pumpkin Seeds.
