What Makes an Elegant Small Hotel?
For the last two decades, Pamela Lanier's Elegant Small Hotels has been striving to provide the finest collection of independent boutique hotels in the world.
Each great hotel is hand-selected to insure that only the finest properties are included. The properties must meet 3 major criteria. They must be Elegant, they must be Small and they must be the kind of boutique lodging that is a destination unto itself.
Elegant is sometimes hard to put into words, but you know it when you experience it. It can be the ratio of guests to employees that make the service impeccable. It can be exceptional architecture combined with one-of-a-kind amenities. It can be a resort or hotel that provides everything that you need for the perfect vacation, without even having to leave the property. But most importantly, elegance is the amazing experience a guest can have because their needs, wants and even desires have been anticipated.
Small is the easiest to describe but does vary throughout the boutique lodging categories (see below). Our Grand Luxe and City Center members may have up to 400 rooms while our Wonderful Country Inn and Deluxe B&B's will tend to have 20 rooms or less.
Boutique lodging has been divided into categories. Each has its own unique style. Some emphasize their business facilities for the business traveler as well as the businesses in the area. Others emphasize their grandeur and award-winning cuisine. Several emphasize the best that the past and the present have to offer. A few have so many things to do that you have to visit more than once to experience everything. And a number are quiet and comfortable, with exceptional service for pampering guests.
